Ben Blackman
RPC-Provisional
Clients often describe Ben as someone they could talk to for hours - and that quality of ease is not separate from his clinical skill, it is an expression of it. Ben has spent a significant part of his practice in hospice, sitting with people at life's most difficult threshold, and he brings that same unhurried presence to every client he works with. What makes him particularly effective is the combination of that depth with a practical, grounded ability to give clients real tools - so that sessions with Ben leave you not just feeling held, but better equipped to navigate what comes next.
Ben works with individuals and couples navigating grief and bereavement, depression, anxiety, childhood trauma and neglect, addiction, self-esteem, and the relational fractures that loss and trauma leave behind. He has a particular focus on end-of-life experiences and terminal diagnosis - supporting both those facing death and those learning to live in the long, often underestimated aftermath of it. For couples, he brings that same steadiness to the relational space, supporting partners who are trying to find each other again through loss, disconnection, or the weight that stress places on connection.
Ben draws on CBT, narrative therapy, and existential therapy - approaches that take seriously both the practical need for tools and the deeper human need to make meaning out of what has happened.
Originally from the UK, Ben spent over a decade in project management across corporate, government, and defence sectors before becoming a therapist. That background sharpened his eye for people's strengths and capacity, even when those people cannot see it in themselves. He is a committed advocate for women's rights and LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Ben is currently accepting new individual and couples clients, with flexible availability. Book a complimentary consultation.
